Why you feel like you're making decisions when you're really just gambling.

Blackjack is a game of skill. You make decisions. You choose whether to hit or stand. You choose whether to double down or split. These decisions matter.

But here's the trap: the fact that you're making decisions creates the illusion that you have control. And that illusion is dangerous.

Even if you make perfect decisions, you can still lose. The house edge is still working against you. Your skill can reduce the damage, but it can't eliminate it.

This is why people lose so much money at blackjack. They feel like they're playing a game of skill, so they feel like they have a chance to win. And they do. But the chances are always in the house's favor.

The same is true for poker. Poker is a game of skill. You can get better at poker. You can reduce the house edge through better play. But the house is still taking a cut. And over time, that cut adds up.

The illusion of skill is one of the most dangerous illusions in gambling. It makes you feel like you have more control than you actually do. And that false confidence is expensive.
